Delete your MapSeek account
This page is for people who use the MapSeek app by MBG Studio and want to delete their MapSeek account and the data linked to it. An account is optional, so if you never created one there is nothing to delete here.
The quickest way: in the app
Open MapSeek, go to Profile, then Account, and choose Delete account. It takes effect at once.
Without the app: by email
You do not need to install the app again. Send us an email from the address of the Google or Apple account you signed in with.
Include
- Your MapSeek username
- Whether you signed in with Google or Apple
We will never ask for a password, a sign-in code or a payment.
What happens next
- We check that your address matches the account.
- We reply to that address and ask you to confirm. This stops anyone else from deleting your account.
- Once you confirm, we delete the account within 30 days and tell you by email when it is done.
If you used Hide My Email
Your account then holds an Apple relay address, so an email from your own address cannot prove the account is yours. Please delete the account in the app. If you have no access to it any more, write to us anyway and we will tell you what we can do.
What is deleted
- Your account, username and display name
- The link to your Google or Apple sign-in, with the address it gave us
- Your sessions, your follows, your blocks and the route summaries you shared
What is kept
- Your routes and photos were never on our servers, only summaries you chose to share. They stay on your device until you remove them with Delete all data in the app or uninstall it.
- A short record that a deletion was carried out, with no name or address, and our email exchange with you for up to 30 days.
- For Apple accounts, an encrypted token for up to 7 days, only so that we can withdraw MapSeek’s access at Apple. It is then deleted.
